Do I need HOA approval for a patio shade structure?
Most Arizona HOAs require architectural review for awnings, pergolas and shade structures. We help you document dimensions, colors and placement for your submittal. Arizona law now limits blanket bans on backyard shade structures, but community review rules still apply, so check your CC&Rs and get written approval before installation. Can QIP systems handle Arizona monsoon winds?
Yes, when specified, installed and operated correctly. Fixed louvered structures are engineered for wind loads. Retractable awnings and screens should be retracted during high wind. We can recommend wind sensors and the right anchoring for your exposure. No shade system should be left out in a storm.
How long does manufacturing and installation take?
Lead times vary by product, size and finish. Most QIP systems are made to order, and we confirm your production and installation window before you order. Many residential installations are completed in a day or two once the product arrives.
What does the 15-year warranty cover?
QIP backs its product line with a 15-year warranty, which is unheard of in the industry. Coverage varies by product and component. Normal wear, misuse and storm damage may be excluded. We provide the written warranty for your exact system with your quote.
Should I choose motorized or manual shade?
Motorized adds convenience, scheduling and smart-home integration. Manual systems are simpler and more budget-friendly. For large, high or hard-to-reach installations, motorized with a remote or app is usually the better long-term fit. We can demonstrate both during your consultation.
Can I control my shade with a smart-home system?
Yes. Somfy motors can integrate with popular smart-home platforms and remotes, and we can add wind or sun sensors. We confirm compatibility with your specific system during design.
Will exterior shade lower my energy bill?
Exterior shade and window coverings reduce direct solar gain and glare, which can make rooms more comfortable and ease cooling demand. Actual savings depend on your home, orientation, windows, insulation and usage. We do not promise a specific percentage.
How do I clean and maintain QIP products?
Most fabrics and frames wipe clean with mild soap and water. Keep tracks free of dust and debris, and retract powered shades when not in use. We leave you with product-specific care instructions after installation.
